Dataman S4 Adapter

and Accessories

We have now developed an add-on GAL Module for our best selling S4 hand-held portable programmer. The discreet S4 GAL Module plugs into the S4's existing ZIF socket and allows for the programming of Electrically Erasable 20 and 24 pin Generic Array Logic (GAL) devices from popular vendors, such as AMD and Lattice. JEDEC files generated from all standard logic compilers can be downloaded to the S4 via its high-speed serial port, and the S4 Driver program supplied with the S4 can be used for file transfer.

GAL devices are Electrically Erasable, thus can be reprogrammed many times. They are versatile and can often replace older PAL type devices, which are no longer available. The S4 will automatically erase GAL devices prior to programming, thus eliminating the need for special commands. S4 can program GALs fast and efficiently, for example an AMD PALCE22V10 takes just 17 seconds to program, including complete verification. The S4 can also prevent unauthorised access to the contents of the device by programming the security fuse, which are found in all GAL devices.

As with our other products, there are no extra charges for Technical Support or software updates for the GAL module. Software updates are available FREE from our Bulletin Boards and also from our Internet site (www.dataman.com).

The S4 GAL Module is available from stock. This price includes the GAL Module hardware, new S4 software and complete instructions in the form of page inserts to existing User's Manual.
