Devices involved in GAT Telecontrol

GAT is a system for remote plant Telecontrol based on GSM network.
It takes advantage of a wireless communication performed through SMS (Short Messages Service) and/or telephone rings, with no use of data traffic of GSM network. The operating expenses are reduced to minimum level and its management is easy, fast and suitable for any users.

This product is the result of numerous experiences, collected in many years by grifo®, during the development of industrial applications and, in details, of not real time Remote Telecontrols. In this sector the equipments must set, acquire and control different signals and measures of the plant. Everything must happen in a simple, reliable and cheap manner, without times restrictions.

The GAT has been developed in order to be used with the grifo® Analog Block (GAB xxx) family cards, coupled with one of the numerous Mini Modules (GMM xxx) cards. By choosing the right cards the user can selects the best resources, for features and price, to obtain the hardware more suitable for each applications. So it is possible to find out the hardware that "perfectly satisfy" the user requirements.

Typical Telecontrol Configuration through GAT.

All the output lines of GAT can be set by using simple SMS commands. Moreover the notification SMS can be received directly by your personal mobile phone. Each input lines of can be joined to advisory SMS that will be sent when preconfigured events happen.

The GAT configuration is really simple in fact proper commands can be sent through SMS or it can be used the Serial Configuration. The last one uses the RS 232 line, always available on each selectable hw, connected to a standard PC that executes a simple and free Terminal Emulation software. The configuration modality is normally used only one time, before the complete system is installed, and it doesn't require additional products.

All the GAT commands are brief and simple to manage in order to simplify their typing on mobile phones. The answers are always readable with no decoding and without additional documentation for translation.
Whenever the user doesn't want mobile phones as counter-parties of GAT, he can profitably use some PCs, connected to GSM network by a suitable interface (GSM modem, Internet key, mobile phone connected to PC, etc.). The PC adds new application fields, in fact the Telecontrol, through a proper program, can be completely automated. The exchanged data could be automatically managed and, if required, saved on a permanent memory in order to develop Data Loggers.
The GAT command can be even combined or in other words, it can be managed either by human users or by PC. In fact it supports more than 100 telephone numbers capable to interact with the system. These numbers are divided in three access levels in order to distinguish the executable operations. This features avoids unauthorized users to perform functions not allowed at his level.


GENERAL FEATURES

In order to simplify the description we define:
- Digital output -> relay output of the selected hw;
- Digital input -> optocoupled input of the selected hw;
- PWM -> pulse width modulation output of the selected hw;
- Analog input -> analog input of the selected hw for voltage or current signals;
- Counter -> counter input of the selected hw dedicated to status change count.

The type, the connection and the number of these hw resources is detaily described inside technical manuals of the selected grifo® cards; the user must refer to these document for any required information. For example, a minimum hardware composed by GAB H844 + GMM 5115 has the following resources:
- 2 relays outputs;
- 4 optocoupled inputs NPN or PNP;
- 1 PWM signal at TTL level;
- 6 analog input for voltage signals (0÷2.5 V or 0÷10 V) or current signals (0÷20 mA o 4÷20 mA),
- 4 optocoupled or TTL counters with 16 bits.

REQUIREMENTS

- At least one GAT hardware device.
- A power supply source for the selected hardware device.
- A DIGICOM POCKET GPRS TM modem complete of power supply and antenna.
- A SIM for mobile phone enabled to voice and SMS traffic.
- Serial communication cable between grifo® hardware and modem.
- A mobile phone provided of SIM, or equivalent system.

When the serial configuration must be used, the following items are required too:
- A PC provided of one RS 232 asynchronous serial line (COMx).
- Serial communication cable between grifo® hardware and PC.
