Ver.5.00 - Rel.. 22 September 2000.

The CPT 16 is a powerful digital input output module, that concentrates on a single board the hardware commonly available on two different cards. The high integration of this module, as well as all grifo® cards, allows a reduction both in space and cost of user's applications. The card needs only two Bytes in addressing space and it selects input or output sections through reading or writing operations. Software initialization is not required for card use. During Power On or after a Reset (if not disabled through a jumper) the CPT 16, through a dedicated circuitry, disables the outputs by avoiding hazardous wrong commutations.

The 16 PNP input lines are galvanically coupled and are equipped with a filter and a LED that shows the line status. The 16 PNP output lines are: galvanically coupled, driven by Darlington transistors in open collector, provided of the common protection diode against inductive loads and provided of a status LED.

The connection to external electronics is performed by two connectors with standard I/O pin out, located on the front side of card. One connector is used for inputs and the other one for outputs. The described features increase card reliability, provide an high immunity to external noise and an immediate sight control of I/O status.

The connection of signals to the field become easier by using BLOCK modules, especially the FCB series; in fact FBCs allow an easy and direct connection of the wires from the two flat cable to quick release screw terminal connectors. The most suitable ones are the FBC 34, FBC 20, FBC 120.

A very important CPT 16 feature is that it can operate both on a 8 or 16 Bits data BUS and 8 or 16 Bits addresses BUS. The Byte or Word mode and the addressing range are selected by some comfortable jumpers and they are clearly displayed by proper LEDs.
