The IBC 01 is a BLOCK serie module that allows many serial communication interfacing combinations for industrial environments. Each module is provided of two RS 232 interfaces, one RS 422 or RS 485 interface and one optical fiber interface, that can be combined simply by moving comfortable jumpers. The main purpose of IBC 01 module are:

• - Eletric protocol converter between the upon described standards;
• - RS 232 repeater that allows to double the communication distance reachable with this protocol.
• - Connection of different units inside a serial network, obtaining systems with distribuited logic.
• - Optical fiber serial communication; this low cost communication solution allows to reach 50 meters of distance and performs a galvanic isolation of the units. This connection allows the fibers to cross zones affected by a very strong electromagnetic noisy, for example big electric engines, welders or other powerful noise generators.

The module interconnections are performed through comfortable and standard connectors that simplify the link with any other devices, while the module mounting is simplified by a plastic support for Omega rails DIN 46277-1 and DIN 46277-3. Essentially the module requires three distinct connections: one for the power supply voltage (wide range) and the two used serial interface.

The IBC 01 is provided of 4 LEDs that show the current module status and inform the user of the correct functionality.

• - Two RS 232 interface, one RS 422 or RS 485 interface, one optical fiber interface.
• - Dimension: 170x80x50 mm complete of plastic support for rails DIN 46277-1 and DIN 46277-3
• - 6 connectors: 2 DB25 pins, female connectors for RS 232 serial lines; 2 plastic connectors for optical fiber with lock nut; 1 low profile connector with 5 pins for RS 422, RS 485 serial line; 1 quick release, screw terminal connector with 16 pins for power supply and all the serial interfaces.
• - RS 485 direction and RS 422 transmitter enable driven by RS 232 handshake signal /RTS.
• - DTE or DCE standard interface selectable for the DB25 connectors, through jumpers.
• - Required optical fiber: plastic or glass fiber with 3 mm external diameter and internal conductive section of at least 1 mm (type SIEMENS ESKA 4001).
• - Selection of the used serial interfaces through two 6 pins jumpers.
• - Single power supply voltage: 5 Vdc or 8÷12 Vdc; 70 mA
• - 4 LEDs to visualize in real time the status of power supply, reception and transmission on optical fiber and RS 232 reception.
• - Markable label that can be used to identify more IBC 01 placed inside the same electric panel.
• - Available in four different version:
  • IBC 01 -> with RS 232, RS 422, RS 485 and optical fiber interfaces
  • IBC 01.OFIB -> with RS 232 and optical fiber interfaces
  • IBC 01.RS422 -> with RS 232 and RS 422, RS 485 interfaces
  • IBC 01.RS232 -> with RS 232 interfaces
